Appropriate exercise can make blood sugar more controllable! Learn how to exercise now.

Diabetes is a chronic disease that, once diagnosed, requires extra attention in lifestyle.

Diabetes treatment has "five carriages", including drug treatment, blood sugar monitoring, diet control, moderate exercise and health education, among which moderate exercise is very important for diabetic patients.

So how should diabetic patients exercise, and is the greater the amount of exercise the better? Here's a reminder for the sugar lovers to pay attention to the following points.

  Time selection

The best time for people with diabetes to exercise is about an hour after a meal. Because the gastrointestinal tract is in a tense working state within an hour after a meal, and about an hour after a meal, the blood sugar rises to the highest value. Choosing this time to start exercising can quickly digest blood sugar and achieve the most ideal hypoglycemic effect. At the same time, it is recommended that the length of each exercise be controlled within 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  Sport type

As for the type of exercise, it is recommended that sugar friends choose exercise according to their personal interests and hobbies. They can choose aerobic exercise that is not intense but enduring, such as brisk walking, jogging, swimming, dancing, tai chi, etc. However, it is not recommended for people with diabetes to choose strenuous anaerobic exercise, because anaerobic exercise basically does not help lower blood sugar.

  Preliminary preparation

In the preparations before exercise, people with diabetes should pay attention to the prevention of hypoglycemia and sports injuries when exercising. Therefore, be sure to do warm-up preparations before exercising and wear protective gear to prevent sports injuries. Blood sugar can be monitored before exercise. Patients with low or high blood sugar levels should not exercise temporarily. It is not too late to start exercising after blood sugar is stable. Carry sugar and water with you when exercising, and be sure to add sugar and water in time when you exercise a lot.

  Exercise intensity

As for exercise intensity, a more suitable amount of exercise is to sweat slightly after exercise. Although you feel a little short of breath or tired and sore limbs, you can quickly recover after a short rest. If the body does not feel slightly tired or sweaty after exercising, and the heart rate remains the same, it means that the amount of exercise is too little, and it does not help much to control blood sugar; if the heart rate , within 20 minutes after the exercise, has not return to the index before exercising with the loss of appetite, severe physical fatigue, palpitation, etc, it means that the amount of exercise is too much. At this time, you should stop exercising immediately, and then go to the hospital for some examinations. After your body improves, you can resume the amount of exercise appropriately.

Some people with diabetes can't wait to start exercising a lot as soon as they are diagnosed with diabetes. After a few days, they stop exercising due to exhaustion. This method is not advisable. Diabetics must find a suitable amount of exercise for themselves, gradually and persistently, and fully enjoy the benefits of exercise.
