2014 Beijing International Acupuncture and Neurology Seminar
From June 12th to 13th, 2014, Beijing International Acupuncture and Neurology Seminar was held in Beijing Liangmahe Convention Centre. The seminar was co-hosted by Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine International Exchange & Co-operation Centre (BTCMIECC), Beijing Hospital of TCM (affiliated to Capital Medical University, CMU), Beijing Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (BAAM), Beijing Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and Beijing TCM Association. The Acupuncture Centre of CMU Beijing Hospital of TCM undertook the committee affairs, while Beijing Association for International Science and Technology Cooperation also helped. Tu Zhitao, Vice Director of Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and other officials attended the opening ceremony and gave some lectures.
The seminar has a purpose of academic exchange with high starting point and high level. Various domestic and foreign experts, from USA, Austria, Japan and other nations, were invited. The eminent experts gave keynotes on 3 focuses including encephalopathy, insomnia and pains. They shared their insights in the fields of “Acupuncture Therapy and Neuromodulation”, “Neuroimaging Technique and Acupoints Specificity”, “Kinesitherapy, Sensory Stimulation and Neurological Rehabilitation”, “Chronic Pains, Hemicrania and Cerebrovascular Diseases” and “Sleep Disorders”. During the two days, over 100 medical professionals attended the seminar and joined in the discussion, contributing a lot of constructive feedbacks to various issues in the fields of acupuncture and neurology.
In addition, the hosts of the seminar, with the invited international experts, established the International Alliance between Traditional Chinese Medicine and Neurology. Many cooperative researches would be carried out in the neurological fields of apoplexia, insomnia and pains. Concrete plans have been developed for the fundamental researches and clinic researching projects to guide the compiling of papers, the reporting, designing and carrying out relative affairs. Regular talents exchanges and cultivations have also been determined.
It is an important convention with nice effects, successfully integrating Chinese acupuncture with the Western neurology.
