TCM Culture in Foreign Culture Expo, Exotic!

Temperature in Beijing dropped dramatically with chilling cold wind on 28th October. But Beijing Foreign Language Garden Fair was held successfully in Chaoyang Park, lively and impressively. The TCM area in the mini expo was organized by Beijing Municipal Chinese Medicine Administration Bureau, co-hosted by Chinese Medicine Health Care Magazine, which is a crowed Health Warming Up District for Chinese and foreign visitors in the activity scene.

 

Raise up your hands to the height of your bottom, and lift it to the front of your face, palm up, lift it to the top head, then push arms straight, palms face towards the sky...

Deputy Secretary of China Medical Qigong (CAMQ) Zhang Haibo was introducing key gestures of Two Hands Support Eight-sectioned Exercise, he also made an example for others to follow.

Many people, both Chinese and western, young and old, were all interested in learning the set of TCM health care exercise, including a 5-year-old child from New Zealand, a Mongolian student studying at Beijing University of Science and Technology and a 70-year-old grandfather.

When the music started, the New Zealand girl drew her mother's hand hard forward in case that the crowd got in their way and made them miss the performance of Eight-sectioned exercise. The girl's mother said that when they travelled to China last year, her daughter caught a bad cold and had high fever. She was treated by a Chinese medicine doctor with soup medicine. Since then, the little girl has come to know the word "traditional Chinese medicine". Traditional Chinese medicine is also the reason for them to visit China this time.  

   

  

The Beijing Chinese Medicine Hospital original dance poem Qi Huang Zhi: Four Seasons performed at the UNESCO headquarters and the France Paris Convention Center was invited to the main stage of the conference. The performance adapted by 14 student actors received lots of applauds and cheers.

   

   

  

  Professor Zhang Haibo was guiding international student from Mongolia Xiao Yue to practice Eight-sectioned Exercise.

  

  The Traditional Chinese Health Protection exercise Serpent Exercise and Wuji Fitness Stick Exercise performed by the team taught by Professor Liu Changxi from Beijing Chinese Medicine Hospital demonstrated the function of smooth internal organs, blood circulation and make tranquil, many citizens in the conference were attracted to imitate and learn.

  

   

  

  Xiong Jiuling, Director of Beijing Foreign Affairs Office, was very satisfied with the activities in the Chinese medicine exhibition area. Ma Jun, chief editor of Traditional Chinese Medicine Health and Wellness magazine introduced relevant information in the exhibition

   

   

  Chinese herbs taken as tea drinks attracted a strong interest of foreign friends. Staff from Zhejiang Jing Yue Tang introduced tea drinks effect in English .

   

   

  

  Display of Chinese medicine drinking pills in both Chinese and English and handmade Chinese sachets were very popular.

   

   

  

  Experts good at English from Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Guang'anmen Hospital of Chinese Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine volunteer to give medical consultation.

   

   

 

Fresh herbs on both sides of the road attracted visitors to have a look, some even drew from it.

 

Xiaoyue, a freshman at Beijing University of Science and Technology from Mongolia, is a keen fan of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He learned Eight-sectioned exercise, and then consulted functions and gist of it with Zhang Haibo. She also talked with editor from Chinese Medicine Health Care magazine about how to use traditional Chinese medicine methods to ease insomnia.

"I have insisted on practicing Tai Ji Quan for more than 10 years, and seldom get sick. After learning Eight-sectioned exercise today, I felt warm and comfortable. I will continue to practice it when I went back home. Hope we can have more teaching activities about this kind of exercises." 70-year-old Mr. Zheng said. He also thought his great gain from the activity is to learn eight-sectioned exercise from teachers from Beijing Chinese Medical University.

Beijing Foreign Language Garden Fair 2017 - TCM Lecture Hall and TCM Culture Exhibition, on the them e of Empowered by TCM, Connect people with “One Belt One Road” Initiative and Promote Prosperity and Development, invited Chinese and foreign visitors. The activity demonstrated the eight-sectioned exercise and squatting-wall exercise, provided TCM consultation, fresh herbs identification, tasting of health care herbs taken as tea drinks, handmade sachets. It also displayed and distributed TCM Health Care magazine and some cultural and creative products, to make people more interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Care. It also became the bright spot of this Foreign Language Cultural Fair.

Furthermore, there was the original dancing poem performance of Qi Huang Zhi: Four Seasons by Beijing Chinese Medicine Hospital and Traditional Health Care Exercise Performance - Snake Exercise and Wuji Fitness Stick Exercises - by the team led by deputy director of Health Care Institute of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Liu Changxi given in the main venue. Those performances showed the culture and charm of TCM and won lots of applause.

Beijing Foreign Language Festival has been successful held for 18 times, which was held by the organizing committee of Beijing Citizen Speaking Foreign Languages Activity and Beijing Municipal Publicity Department. The fair is one of the brand activities of Beijing Citizens Speaking Foreign Languages.
