Recently, one doctor named Tan Xianjie with Peking Union Medical College Hospital was under the spotlight when she swallowed the date pit, who was a botanic physician with gynaecology and obstetrics, also an expert working for gynecological oncology. As a medical doctor and expert with top hospital in China, she experienced a lot after fully swallowed one date pit. However, another patient swallowing the date pit by mistake admitted by Beijing Fengtai Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine on June 10th was not as lucky as her.
On June 10th, one patient aging 24 swallowed one date pit by mistake when drinking date porridge resulting in aching anus and cacation and lasting fever. The patient came to the Beijing Fengtai Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, when No.1 Surgery Deputy botanic physician Jia Shanyong made operation for the patient and taking out the foreign object from the anorect to timely avoid the further risk.
It was understood that the patient took breakfast on June 7th, when taking date porridge, the patient took in the date pit by mistake, which was followed by aching anus and cacation . The patient went to the local hospital and the doctor thought it was internal hemorrhoids and offered drugs for curing haemorrhoids. The aching anus aggravated on June 9th with lasting fever. Then the patient came to Beijing Fengtai Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. It was found after inspection that one tip of the date inserted into the mucosa of the lower rectum. Deputy botanic physician Jia Shanyong immediately considered it was the foreign object in the anorectum resulted in the abscess here, and it was a must to timely take out the foreign object by operation to avoid worse infection at the location of the foreign object, as it might further lead to necrotizing fasciitis even septic shock in extreme case.
At the same day, No.1 Surgery Deputy botanic physician Jia Shanyong made operation for the patient via taking out the foreign object from the anorect and radical surgery for abscess surrounding the anorectum. The operation was successful and the foreign object was successfully taken out. The overall operation lasted for as short as 50min from operating room admittance to anesthesia till operation completion. The patient was at good shape.
