Tu Zhitao Visited TCM Training Base for Overseas Chinese in Beijing to See 1st Batch Overseas TCM Interns

          

    Recently, Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Director Tu Zhitao arrived at TCM training base for overseas Chinese in Beijing to warmly see the 28 overseas TCM interns from France Shaoyang International University of TCM , and made deep investigation on the theme of following the TCM inheritance and innovative road home and abroad hand in hand.

    Tu Zhitao visited the preventive treatment of disease department and acupuncture department and watched the overseas interns and their actuality, and made amicable discussion with the teachers and overseas students. A symposium was convened later, and attended by 50-plus personages consisted of France Shaoyang International University of TCM President Ma Fan, all the interns and teachers, related directors from Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, major leaders and workers from TCM training base for overseas Chinese in Beijing.

    Tu Zhitao chaired the symposium, and pointed out that Beijing enjoyed the best TCM resource, best hospitals and research insitutes of TCM, thus it was a perfect window for TCM go global. It was wished that the friends from France in the medical circle to make full use of the window and the platform of the TCM training base for overseas Chinese to learn and use TCM at their best. It was also hoped each party to work together to offer suggestions for following the TCM inheritance and innovative road home and abroad hand in hand.

  

     

    

     

    

    After listening carefully the speeches as above, Tu Zhitao came up with very construstive comments on how to duly run the training class and promote the TCM at higher level. He highlighted that the training class and hospital were representative. We should attain the following three objectives to better run the training class: firstly duly train the overseas interns as expected. Secondly the teaching should benefit the students and teachers as well, and keep improving the teaching textbook, teachers’ level and training courses. Thirdly, lay stress on the TCM internationalization. Summerize the route and methods to spread the TCM around the world to better promote the TCM overseas. The people involved in the symposium also came up with three wishes: firstly, refrain from simply regarding the TCM as medical science, but as phylosophy and culture to develop deeper understanding on TCM essence, and vigorously pursue the living based on the TCM. Secondly, work hard at integrating the Chinese and western medicine and making one supplement the other, enable the TCM to really work in terms of the prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and healthcare etc. in particular the merits of the TCM. Thirdly, work at integrating the internet big data with the TCM, give full play to the TCM merits in sound TCM educational system, keep heightening the base training quality and target-orientation and effectivenss, and grow the TCM education in more nations abroad.

    During the investigation, Tu Zhitao also listened to the report on the construction progress of TCM Training Base for Overseas Chinese in Beijing. The Base Director Hao Tianzhi mentioned that, as the first TCM standing service platform in China integrating the medical treatment, teaching, exchange, exhibition, service and trade for overseas Chinese, the TCM Training Base for Overseas Chinese in Beijing, under the leadership of Office of Overseas Chinese Affairs of Beijing Municipal Government and Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, followed the principle of serving the overseas Chinese TCM experts, and actively got in the TCM Care Program within the overseas program to benefit overseas Chinese. The TCM senior workshop at the Training Base for Overseas Chinese was held for two straight years, and attended by 54 TCM trainees from 20-plus nations, such as USA, Canada, France and UK etc.who were granted to course-completion certificates. Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine Director Tu Zhitao laid great stress on the base construction as he investigated for times, offering top-level design and earnest guidance in terms of the base development goal, operation modeling and program planning. Based on the International Affairs Department of Beijing Chaoyang Integrative Medicine Emergency Medical Center and Beijing St. Marco Hospital offering reliable warranty in terms of the staffing, money and supplies, solidly launch the next-step workload, further compact the foundation for exchange between TCM in Beijing and overseas counterparts, jointly promote the TCM to go global and initiative of the Belt and Road, and expand the influence of Beijing TCM and Beijing TCM culture in the world at large.

    France Shaoyang International University of TCM President Ma Fan firstly introduced about the overseas school running and the training for the interns. The France Shaoyang International University of TCM  had been established for 20 years, fostering 5,000-plus studentens in each state of EU, who came from different occupations consisted of the doctors, nurses and those without medical educational background. The students ranged from 16-year-old to 80-year-old, most of whom have regular work to do. They learned the TCM at the weekends, showcasing the TCM getting more and more poplar in France. There were specific requirements on TCM schooling length, and the students could graduate only when finishing the schooling for five years and passing the exams. The learning content in France Shaoyang International University of TCM fully followed the curriculum system in Chinese university of TCM. President Ma Fan proudly expressed that the overseas students felt it was right to learn TCM from Chinese only. She also mentioned about the common impression of the interns as follows: it was beyond their imagination that the TCM hospital in China were so large, amazing and modern, and the teachers were young and responsive. The students were astonished and impressed, and they valued the learning oppotunities a lot.

    The overseas students were eager to speak up, thoroughly reflecting their zeal and addiction to TCM and TCM culture.

    Mark was one orthopedist in France. He believed TCM had brought a lot to the medical circle in France, such as TCM preventive treatment of disease, which could not be found in western medicine. The western medicine looked at the human from the physical and chemical perspective, while the TCM looked at the human as a whole, developing more comprehensive understanding on life, much more intelligent than the western medicine. He wished that TCM could have access to western hospitals and society at large to help the patients to prevent and treat diseases.

    MATTHEY Pascale was a head nurse in France. She commented that TCM was a medical science following the integral view, laying stress on the balance of Yin and Yang to prevent and treat diseases, a very intelligent approach in this respect. She told that she had seen a lot and mastered the real technics. She hoped to include the TCM in their hospital system in France, in particular the pediatric department.

    NGUYEN Van Du Charles was an artist with family origin in Vietnam. He had no background of learning in medical school, but he learned the TCM because of the interest, and he had obtained the business license in France. He opened a TCM clinic five years ago, where he witnessed more and more patients accepting the TCM. He not only treated diseases for patients, but offered suggestions in terms of the diet and living habit for people at sub-health conditions, and taught them to practice Qigong. He told us it was his great pleasure to learn TCM in China, cradle of TCM and root of TCM.

    CHVETZOFF Alexis added that it was a must to go to China to have a look before determining to learn TCM, otherwise you may not learn the essence of TCM. The TCM learners were zealous and worshipful for Chinese culture and TCM culture. He expressed that he was willing to be a TCM envoy to build a bridge to bring the TCM abroad.

    SAMBARDIER Marie developed strong interest on integrated Chinese and western medicine. She told that it was her strongest wish to have a look at how Chinese and western medicine get integrated, it was truly there, and she hoped it was possible in France to integrate the Chinese and western medicine too. She much vividly expressed that it should work as a marriage between Chinese and western medicine and between China and France to get closer to each other to grow the TCM together.

    Wang Yanhui, as an overseas Chinese staying in France for long, expressed, as a Chinese, she felt it was more of her responsibility to shoulder the mission of carrying forward TCM to enable TCM to better benefit the France.
