Recently, sponsored by Health and Family Planning Commission of Shijingshan District, Jingxi Chinese Medicine Culture Research Association of Shijingshan District and Eye Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences hosted the community theme publicity activities in summer of “Sparkling Eyes” campus project at Cultural Activity Center of Laoshan Street. A team of three Chinese and Chinese experts from the Eye Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences came to the site to provide counseling and clinic services.
At the event site, dozens of community residents took their children and grandchildren, participated in the eye health clinic consultation activities carried out by the medical team of Eye Hospital, conducted basic eye health examinations, and experienced TCM service activities such as burying a bean at ear acupuncture. By participating in this activity, parents' attention to the healthy development of children's eyes was improved. The children and parents now understand the importance of cultivating eye health habits. The knowledge of eye health among young children was enhanced. The emotional communication of parents and children was strengthened as well. The project will also be held in other streets in Shijingshan District, and will be extended in an orderly manner in various communities.
"Sparkling Eyes" Activity
The “Sparkling Eyes” series of activities was held by the Health and Family Planning Commission of Shijingshan District to implement the “Guiding Opinions on Strengthening the Prevention and Control of Children and Adolescents’ Myopia” and the “13th Five-Year National Eye Health Plan”. The activities aimed to face the grassroots and the masses and the service families to improve the baseline of adolescents' eye health. District Education Commission, as well as various sub-district offices, were organized and played an organizational mobilization role to promote and inherit Chinese medicine. More than ten teams of famous Chinese medicine experts in eye health care were built up to carry out a series of activities such as entering the communities and campus. The event is planned to cover all the primary and secondary schools in Shijingshan in two to three years. Based on the basic eye health screening, we will provide health tracking management for students in need and provide personalized TCM vision treatment solutions.
The Health and Family Planning Commission of Shijingshan District will adhere to the principle of “government leading, departmental cooperation, expert guidance, and school social family participation”. It will provide a platform for young people to improve their eye health in a multi-faceted and all-round way. It will conduct specialized eye vision and eye disease screening in the primary and secondary schools in Shijingshan District, popularize eye protection knowledge, actively create a good social atmosphere for prevention and treatment of adolescent eye diseases, to help Shijingshan District in creating a civilized district and a platform for public health service and public health safety education to the needs of people's livelihood with rich content.
