From June 18 to 20, Daxing District Hospital of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine launched a series of activities of "Elderly Health Promotion Week". This activity is closely centered on the theme of "Understanding Health Knowledge, Taking the Road to Rehabilitation, and Being a healthy elderly". The activity not only improves the elderly's understanding of health knowledge and make their lives healthier and happier, but also arranges many health lectures and health consultation activities.
On the morning of the 18th, a “free clinic and health consultation” was held in the outpatient hall of the hospital. Six key doctors from the hospital's rehabilitation department, Chinese medicine department, ophthalmology department and nephrology department conducted health consultation and blood pressure measurement for patients free of charge.
On the morning of the 19th, Director Ma Xingxiang of Ophthalmology Department went to Demao Community to explain "Treatment of Fundus Lesions Caused by Diabetes Mellitus" to residents. Fundus lesions are more difficult to find. Though eyes are not luminous pearls, but they are priceless treasures that cannot be replaced. Early prevention and early treatment are essential to avoid exacerbation of the disease. After class, residents are also given mosquito repellent sachets.
On the morning of the 20th, a 10-member free clinic team composed of advanced doctors
from the traditional Chinese medicine department, oncology department, bone injury department, ophthalmology department and Sunit Youqi People's Hospital in Daxing District came to Li Yubei Community in Hongkun Ideal City (North District) for health consultation.
Zhao Kun, a doctor from the Chinese Medical Department, explained to the residents "How to spend a long summer safely-TCM treatment and health care for spleen and stomach diseases”, introduced the making method of sachets and their efficacy and wearing taboos. He also asked everyone to pack sachets with their own hands. Head nurse Yan from the department of orthopaedics and traumatology led everyone to do the "Ba Duan Jin" exercise. The residents on the scene actively cooperated with her and were very active. At last, the health consultation activities were conducted for residents and mosquito repellent sachets and summer-heat refreshing sachets were distributed.
The activity not only strengthens the elderly's understanding of health knowledge, promotes the elderly to form healthy behaviors and lifestyles, but also improves the elderly's health literacy and health level, and leads a happy life.
