On the morning of July 11, 2019, the "TCM Healthy Tour to Rural Areas" kick-off meeting of Beijing First Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine & the Voluntary Clinic Activity of “Ophthalmology of Cuigezhuang Community Health Service Center” was opened, which was hosted by Sun Yanhua, Deputy President of Beijing First Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine.
It’s reported that the first station of the "TCM Healthy Tour to Rural Areas" kick-off meeting of Beijing First Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine was chosen to carry out the voluntary clinic activity of ophthalmology in the geriatric hospital area, which helped to truly realize the transfer of resources of Chinese medicine experts to the community. The level of medical technology was improved through health education, expert visits, and studying under the guidance of veteran TCM experts so as to better satisfy the needs of the masses for medical treatment.
At first, Hou Xiaobing Vice President of the Hospital, introduced the background of "TCM Healthy Tour to Rural Areas" and the situation of ophthalmology. Then, Sun Yanhua Vice President of the Hospital highlighted the specific service time of ophthalmology and the green channel service measures of benefiting patients. In addition, the hope is that more experts will go to the geriatric hospital area in the future so as to better satisfy the needs of patients.
Subsequently, Zhang Xuehua proposed that the new medical reform should achieve a gradual shift from disease-centered to health management-oriented, and with strong support from medical technology and service capabilities, the geriatric hospital area will enjoy the faster and better development in the future, and enable the residents nearby to enjoy the medical services of medical experts by staying at their community. At present, Beijing First Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine stands at the stage of development and transformation. After the kick-off meeting, Lu Jianmin Head of Ophthalmology gave a lecture on the health knowledge of common diseases regarding ophthalmology for local residents through illustrated explanation. At the same time, the team of ophthalmologists of the Third Party Branch of the CBD hospital area and the team of experts from the First Party Branch of the Geriatric Hospital area under Beijing First Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine jointly held a voluntary consultation service by making free blood sugar tests for more than 50 residents and enabling them to experience computer optometry, vision checks, split lamp checks, glandular gland massage, atomized inhalation of dry eye disease, and other items, which were highly praised by local residents. Everyone gave high praise to the ophthalmology department of the geriatric hospital area and expressed their long-term expectation.
After the ophthalmology team started their work, 27 patients received the medical services from this Monday to Thursday, and 21 patients experienced free oxygen inhalation and meibomian gland massage, 2 patients made the registration for cataract surgery, and 1 patient for sacral margin surgery, and more than 20 people enjoyed free consultation services.
