In order to give full play to the demonstration of the advanced models, and stimulate more health workers to deepen the practice of reforming the medical and health system, and to participate in the construction of Healthy China and Healthy Beijing, Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and the Coordination Committee for the Capital Health System Spiritual Civilization Construction launched the selection activity for the 7th “Top Ten Health Guardian of the Capital” in April 2018. After unit recommendation, industry-wide selection, online voting, and media publicity, Professor Xiao Chengcong from Dongzhimen Hospital stood out as the only representative of the TCM system and was elected as the “Top Ten Health Guardian of the Capital”, and Yao Chengli won the nomination award.
Professor Xiao Chengcong has inherited her family studies since childhood. By diligently seeking ancient TCM expertise, learning from the public, and merging the essence of Chinese and Western medicines, she has developed a series of unique prescriptions for women with intractable diseases, thus best safeguarding the health and dignity of patients. She is full of love. No matter how poor her patients are, she has always had deep feelings with them and taken a responsible attitude toward them. She is enthusiastic and frank, and she is the "health-sending grandmother" and a health guardian in the eyes of patients. At the site of the announcement, the famous actor Li Guangfu performed a deductive interpretation of the good deeds of Xiao Longyou, the grandfather of Xiao Chengcong, in honor of this famous TCM master.
Yao Chengli has been committed to the development of integrated Chinese and Western medicine surgery, and learned medical skills from Professor Li Naiqing, a famous TCM doctor of the capital. He took the lead in conducting general minimally invasive surgery at Tongzhou District. In 2015, “Tongzhou District Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Cholelithiasis Prevention and Control Center” was established. He carefully diagnosed each patient and developed an individualized plan for treatment. He was enthusiastic about public welfare and went to the front line as a member of the first group of the capital aided medical workers in the Wenchuan Earthquake.

Professor Xiao Chengcong of Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine was elected as the 7th “Health Guardian of the Capital”, and Yao Chengli Head of Surgery Department of Tongzhou Area of the Hospital, won the nomination award for the 7th “Top Ten Health Guardian of the Capital”.
