Yanqing Hospital of Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital Holds Hand Hygiene Knowledge and Skills Competition
In order to let medical staff better understand hand hygiene knowledge, further improve hand hygiene compliance and accuracy rate, and effectively reduce the occurrence of hospital infection through good hand hygiene habits, on the afternoon of September 12, Yanqing Hospital of Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital held the 2019 “Staff Technical Association Cup” occupational skill competition-”Hand Hygiene Knowledge and Skills Final”. Ren Chunhuan, Vice Chairman of the Trade Union Federation of Yanqing District Health Committee, took part in the competition and gave a speech.
Six groups of medical personnel participated in the competition. The competition order was determined by drawing lots. There’re individual mandatory questions, group mandatory questions, snatch questions and live interactive links. The question ranged from easy to difficult with emphasis. The participants were fully prepared and responded enthusiastically in the contest. The atmosphere on the scene was exciting and full of ups and downs. From having a clear idea of the single topic selection to competing for the snatch questions, it’s not only a big competition of familiarity with hand hygiene knowledge, but also a big test of medical personnel's adaptability. In the "prize-winning interaction" session, the active participation of the audience added interest to the tense competition and showed the attention and knowledge of medical staff on hand hygiene.
After several rounds of fierce competition, the emergency department team won the first prize of the group; the surgical department, digestive department and comprehensive nursing team, the encephalopathy department team won the second prize of the group; the respiratory department, cardiovascular department and the first and third Internal Medicine nursing teams, the orthopedic department, gynecology department and nursing team, and the medical technology function team won the third prize of the group.
Ren Chunhuan, Vice Chairman of the Trade Union Federation of Yanqing District Health Committee, fully affirmed the performance of the contestants in her speech. She hoped that all medical personnel would know and master the knowledge and skills of hand hygiene, standardize hand hygiene behavior in clinical practice, transmit health with both hands, ensure safety and promote the development of health care in Yanqing District.
Hand hygiene is the simplest, most effective, most convenient and most economical measure to reduce hospital infection. This hand hygiene knowledge and skills competition has created a strong atmosphere for learning and publicizing the sense and control culture, expanded the sense and control vision of medical personnel, further promoted and strengthened the prevention and control of hospital infection, and laid the foundation for ensuring medical safety.
