In order to promote the construction of human research ethics in Beijing area and overall ethic construction in medical and health institutions, on Oct 15, 2016, the second forum on “the Construction and Development of Ethics Review Ability in the Capital” was successfully held in Xiyuan Hospital. The forum was hosted by Beijing Medical Ethics Society, and organized by Xiyuan Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.
Taking “Improve operation and protection mechanism for the subjects and promote research on ethics management in medical institutions” as the center theme, the forum was divided into four stages: the experts and representatives gave speeches respectively on “establishment and perfection of subjects protection system”, “ethic focus in clinical research”, and “protection of subjects from special groups”. The participants actively asked and discussed questions in a warm atmosphere. Meanwhile, the forum evaluated and selected outstanding papers and invited the representative to share their views on the forum.
At the end, Professor Liu Yiting, Chairman of Beijing Medical Ethics Society, made a summary statement. He pointed out that the forum is a high level forum with high degree of involvement, high academic level and strong guidance to actual work. In the forum, a number of young experts emerged, whose rapid growth promote professionalization and expertization of institutional ethics committee. In October 2015, the forum of “the Construction and Development of Ethics Review Ability in the Capital” was established, which set up a platform for the exchange of academic ideas and management wisdom. The forum announced that Beijing You’an Hospital with be the organizer of the third forum, and Li Yumei, Party Secretary of You’an Hospital, said the Hospital will try its best to organize the third forum.
Beijing Medical Ethics Society will further strengthen policy research on institutional ethics committee, push forward evaluation work of institutional ethics committee in Beijing area, intensify organization of small seminars and symposiums, fulfill relative training task, and go all out to help prepare for the third forum, in an effort to make contribution to construction and development of Ethics Review Ability in Beijing Area.
