In the snowy Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the source of the Three Rivers(Yangtze River, Yellow River and Lancang River), clear blue skies and white clouds often come into the sight of Liu Cuicui, an aiding cadre from Beijing Fengtai District Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine; a melody of "love the motherland, love the people, comity and fraternity" goes around her ears.
This May, she practiced the concept of "serving the people" with her hands and at the same time made an invaluable contribution to improving the environment.
Improving the environment is the right way to spend on Labor Day
On May 1, International Labor Day, Liu and other members of the fourth batch of Qinghai medical aide party branch in Beijing carried out a campaign to clean up the rubbish near Batang river, a source of the Three Rivers.
They carried garbage bags, straw rakes, clamps and other tools along the Zhaqu river to clean up the white garbage, fishing for floating objects, proudly bearing the team's flag as they systematically carried out their work.
After a morning's toil, Liu's hands were coated with thick grime and her face was covered with sweat. But looking at many garage bags and a now clear Zhaqu river, a source of her face was lit up by a radiant smile.
The aim of the mission, apart from the obvious task of cleaning the river, was to promote environmental protection and at the same time pay appropriate tribute to Labor Day and the workers of the world.
Labor Day, keep workers healthy
Over the following two days Liu and her team conducted a medical program stressing the idea of "revitalizing the Three Rivers and delivering love to the plateau".
Medicine was delivered to the hospitals of Zhouzhiduo county and Qumalai county in Yushu city of Qinghai province, benefiting the local poor people. In addition, free clinics were held for local police, something received with gratitude from them and from locals in general.
