The year of 2020 marks the bicentenary of the birth of Florence Nightingale (a pioneer of nursing in Britain) and the international year of nurses and midwives established by the World Health Organization. The theme of this year's Nurses Day in China is to pay tribute to the team of nurses and working together to defeat the epidemic. In order to further carry forward the Nightingale spirit, commend the advanced and create a strong atmosphere of respecting and caring for nurses, Beijing Pinggu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine held a series of activities to celebrate the International Nurses' Day on May 12.

　　On the afternoon of May 9, the Nursing Department of Pinggu Hospital organized a commendation meeting for the International Nursing Day on May 12, 2020. Secretary Jian Guofei, Director Niu Xiaowei, Vice President Li Xiaocui, Vice President Zhang Xianghong and assistant Director Wang Fei attended the meeting. The whole nursing staff of the hospital were invited to attend the online conference to celebrate the Nurses' Day.

　　The conference recognized 2019 outstanding head nurses, nurses, clinical teachers and nursing stars of the year, advanced teams and individuals in the fight against Covid-19. The representatives of the advanced group and outstanding individuals who were honored made their respective speeches, telling the story of their lives in the ordinary nursing posts, showing the nurses' fearless spirit in the face of difficulties and dangers, the spirit of great love to take care patients and the spirit of dedication in the work.

　　Medical angels received flowers and condolences from hospital leaders

　　On the morning of May 11, Secretary Jian Guofan, Director Niu Xiaowei, Vice Director Xu Yinping, Vice Director Li Xiaocui, Vice Director Zhang Xianghong and Assistant Director Wang Fei went to the second department of the hospital accompanied by the relevant person in charge of the nursing department. They sent beautiful flowers and consolation products to the head nurses of each department.

　　In order to avoid personnel gathering, although the hospital leaders could not personally go to each ward to send festival blessings to every nurse, they conveyed good wishes and deep respect to the nurses through the head nurse of the department: "You had worked hard for the health of the patients. When working hard in nursing work, you should take care of yourself and the family's physical and mental health. At the same time, the head nurses of each department are responsible for caring every nurse, and creating a good, harmonious working atmosphere for them."

They expressed that they would live up to the expectations of the hospital leaders, stand on their posts, remember the original intention and mission, strive to provide patients with high-quality and intimate nursing services and continue to create extraordinary performance in the ordinary nursing posts!
