"Raise hands up in the air (to regular triple energizer), expand chest like shoot eagle (to enhance cardiopulmonary function) ..." Every Wednesday afternoon, the music of ancient Chinese instrument began on time in Beijing Gulou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Doctors, in their spare time, practiced "eight-section brocade" (a set of qigong exercises with assumed medical benefits) with patients to dredge the meridians and strengthen the body. The extended arms and neat movements attracted many people to stop, watch and participate.
The Department of Rehabilitation combined traditional with modern skills according to the characteristics of inpatients. Every Tuesday and Thursday, at 2pm, in the spacious and bright rehabilitation hall, the medical staff and patients practiced "eight-section brocade" together aimed at rehabilitation and keeping fitness.
