In hot June, the sudden surge in the number of Covid-19 infected people has made Beijing even hotter.
In face of epidemic outbreak, Beijing Hospital of Integrated Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine rapidly deployed the medical staff to participate in the nucleic-acid testing and screening work. Each department actively organized and assigned the personnel to each detection point at 8 o 'clock in the morning of June 15th, thus the Xili 2 group was established. The Xili 2 group consisted of doctors, nurses, medical technicians, and administrative logistics personnel, under the leadership of the Group Leader Sun Wei, began to work in an orderly manner.
The airless protective clothing, the ear-tight N95 respirators and the eye-shield goggles, fully protected but choked us. The sound of heavy breathing, repeated coughing and the "ah" after taking off the mask and opening the mouth continued to haunt us. The rising surface temperature reached 50 degrees, which made us sweat in the protective clothing and gradually fogged the goggles. However, we still comforted each other and held on together. In order to shorten the waiting time at high temperature, the distribution coders searched carefully, the testers extracted accurately and the collectors labeled and bottled quickly, thus the fast-running assembly line was formed. After completing the task at the assigned point, the team members went to other test points, such as nursing homes, district hotels and other places to support the test. In one day, more than 1000 people had been tested in total!
At 5 o 'clock in the afternoon, when we finished the work and finally were ready to take off the protective clothing for a rest, we received a new household inspection task. Seeing our tired companions, the group decided to send the party members and key comrades to complete this temporary task. Wearing heavy protective clothing, party members carried the kit to shuttle back and forth in the buildings, climbed the stairs without elevators, looked for the test point and went to more than 20 houses, finally completed the inspection work according to the requirement.
At the sunset, a few medical staff of Xili 2 group were still waiting for the missing residents and dealing with the medical waste recycling and other finishing work in the two sites.
When the group members helped each other to leave the community, the residents along the road kindly said to us: You have worked hard, thank you; even some residents directly came forward to fan for us. Though we could not feel the cool wind in the protective clothing, the sound of thanks and small actions blew our sweat from the bottom of our hearts, alleviated our pain and dissipated our exhaustion.
Xili 2 group is just a temporary team, but we won't forget the warriors who headed for the danger and worked hard to prevent and combat the epidemic under the hot sun: Sun Wei from the Door office, Zhao Danyang from the Science and Education Department, Liu Yu from the Oncology Department, Yuan Juhua from the Oncology Department, Zhou Miao from the Respiratory Department, He Tianfu from the Orthopedics Department, Zhang Linyi from the Gynecology Clinic, Wang Ying from the Gynecology Department, Yang Lijie from the Laboratory Department, Zhang Peng from the Information Department, Wang Yanping from the Information Department and Fan Xuezhu from the Asset Management Department.
