It's worth our hard work to make the community safe. One night after the rain in Beijing, the heat gradually subsided and the water vapor did not disperse. At 20:30 pm of June 18th, the lights were blazing in front of the east building of Beijing Oriental Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. The nucleic-acid throat-swab collection team, consisting of 11 medical staff from the Oriental Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, was ready to start, with 11 members coming from different departments of the hospital, including 6 nurses and 5 doctors.
The site of the pharyngeal swab collection located in No. 2 Huaxiang Qiaoliang Community belonged to the medium-risk region, thus the whole community residents must receive the nucleic-acid test. It was reported that the community had a population of about 6,000 people. In order to enable the community residents to have a timely nucleic-acid test, the Oriental Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine dispatched a pharyngeal swab collection team when the kit arrived at the scene, and conducted throat swab collection and nucleic-acid test for the residents overnight.
After arriving at the scene, Team Leaders Zhang Hui and Zhao Jing communicated with on-site staff, immediately sorted out the process and coordinated the staff, and began to collect throat swabs within 30 minutes. In order to work efficiently, 8 teams of staff carried out work at the same time, and completed pharyngeal swab collection and on-site elimination together with 3 medical staff of Fengtai Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital. Hand sanitizer, wear gloves, check bar code, collect specimens, take off gloves, disinfect and kill, enter the next patient...The staff repeated the familiar process over and over again and the scene in an orderly manner. After each throat swab collection, the residents would thank for their hard work and the staff immediately rushed into the sampling process of the next resident...
Within 3 hours, 11 medical staff and more than 300 throat swabs were collected successfully. After counting the specimens, collecting the medical waste at the site and basically eliminating the waste, they took off the protective clothing. The sweat behind the boys' clothing and the dents on the girls' faces were all telling about the hard work and exhaustion of the night. There was no complaint. The time had passed so fast that they could not collect more.
At 0:30 in the morning of 19th, June, 11-member team went back to the hospital successfully. They did not take care of washing and had no time to report to their families for safety. At the moment, the beds in the duty room and the pillows in the office were what they longed for most. Good night, Beijing! Good night, guys!
