With summer approaching, the situation of Covid-19 prevention and control is grim in Beijing. Many hospitals have sent medical teams to support Ditan Hospital. Today, eight members of the second medical team of Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine have been working here for eight days and nights.
1. Flowers and cakes at the entrance of the hospital
I have crying eyes. When I heard the patient said 'thank you' softly, I cried with emotion. Xin Ying, the deputy head of the second medical team of Ditan Hospital in Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, recalled the first day of working in the ward. On that day, Xin Ying was in charge of guiding Covid-19 patients to CT examinations. There was a long outdoor walk, and the afternoon sun was particularly hot and the temperatures reached 40℃ without shade. Wearing heavy protective clothing, a mask and goggles, Xin felt like she was in a microwave under the scorching sun, with her head feeling bloated, nauseated, suffocated and occasionally dizzy. Holding on, I must bring the patient safely to the exam room! Xin Ying told herself over and over that she had to finish the task. In nearly 3 hours, 20 patients finished the examination, and she also completed this seemingly simple but extremely difficult work.
"Thank you, girl! It's such a hot day, we feel like going to get sunburnt. You're still wearing such thick clothes, so tired!" Xin Ying shed tears when she heard the patients' thanks. On the young face flushed by the heat, it was hard to tell whether it was tears or sweat, but the eyes were resolute. Today was a very important day for me! Xin Ying said happily and sweetly, I didn't expect to spend my first wedding anniversary and birthday in Ditan Hospital, which was quite meaningful! Xin Ying's husband left the roses and birthday cake at the gate of the station. This gift with the love and support of the family was waiting for its hostess to come back from work.
2. Try to do something that is within your scope
Zhao Huan is a skilled young nurse from the Department of Tumor Surgery, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. When the hospital informed her that she was about to go to Ditan Hospital for support, her first thought flashed through her mind was that she could do something meaningful for the country and Beijing, and she was full of energy instantly. In order not to worry her family, she just told them the shift was changed and that she might not be able to go home for a period of time, and then she packed up and left. Whenever asked if she was homesick, Zhao's beautiful face always revealed a bright smile: "Well, I still feel homesick. But there are hospital leaders and colleagues care, hospital is my home, bring me warm and confidence to overcome difficulties!"
On the first day of entering Ditan Hospital, Zhao Huan was not scheduled, but she still took the initiative to come to the ward to help her teammates to do something within her power in the cleaning area: using the computer to record patients' condition, responding to the needs of patients in the beeper, assisting colleagues to get medical supplies and preparing medicine and food for patients... She was busy from eight in the morning until seven thirty in the evening. The next day was her official day shift, followed by a 12-hour night shift on the third day... After working continuously for several days, Zhao Huan had successfully overcome the discomfort and dehydration caused by sweating and the hot weather. She learned to breathe effectively in the isolation clothes to ensure all the work could be carried out smoothly and took good care of the patients.
Despite of the scorching heat and rampant virus, the young medical team of Ditan Hospital, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, has always maintained firm faith and vigorous fighting capacity. Xin Ying, Zhao Huan and their teammates completed a medical and nursing task by virtue of their excellent technical and psychological quality. Their outstanding performance has also won the affirmation and praise from Ditan Hospital colleagues.
This summer, countless angels in white experienced the rough waves of the fight against the epidemic in seemingly ordinary jobs. They may not be extraordinary, but always gentle and bright; they have marched forward and ridded the wind and waves. It will be safe and sound when they come back.
