On June 30, the couple, Liu Binghui and Ren Xiaocui started work as usual at the nucleic acid testing site of Guangwai Hospital. It was still hot like a steamer in Beijing after the rain. When Liu took off his protective suit, his clothes were soaked with sweat and his forehead was covered with sweat beads. Since the second outbreak of the epidemic in Beijing, they have stuck to their posts.
The couple headed for the epidemic battlefield
The situation in Beijing was grim, and there was no time to delay the fight against the epidemic. In the front line of epidemic prevention and control, countless medical workers had been working day and night. Wearing thick protective suits and goggles, they had been sticking to their nucleic acid testing posts whether it was hot or stormy. In Guangwai Hospital, there is a lovely and respectable couple, they joined hands, faced the difficulties and fought the epidemic together. When Ren Xiaocui learned the nucleic acid test collection task of the hospital, she actively asked to participate in the work. At around 1 am on June 13, Ren Xiaocui and other 32 sampling team members from Guangwai Hospital gathered quickly after receiving the urgent task notice and went to the designated nucleic acid testing community by car. Liu Binghui was responsible for the procurement of drugs for the whole hospital, ensuring the use of drugs in the hospital. But as the epidemic progressed, Liu, a Communist Party member, became involved in nucleic acid testing. In this way, the couple set foot on the journey of sampling in the hospital together. On the way, the couple were still consolidating the process and carefully telling each other to do their own protective measures.
From June 13 to on June 29, over a period of 16 days, the sampling team successfully completed the nucleic acid testing and sampling task of more than 85,700 people in the area and 20 people door-to-door testing for the elderly, the young, the sick and the disabled. As long as the epidemic situation in Beijing improved and every resident was safe, it was worth our efforts. We hoped to successfully complete the task of centralized sampling and won the battle without smoke. Ren said.
Heavy rain and scorching sun could not stop Liu and Ren from marching forward. Despite of the bad weather, they kept working as long as the residents stayed. In order to reduce the number of times to go to the toilet, they drank little water and did their best to avoid excessive gathering of residents, ensuring the health and safety of every resident efficiently.
Please be seated, throw your head back, relax, open your mouth, relax, take it easy..., They said it thousands of times every day to make resident calm down and cooperate, and complete the sampling faster. Each time they took sample, they tried their best to do it more lightly, quickly and clearly. Under the orderly organization of the street community, residents came to queue, filled in forms, got nucleic acid test in a hurry but an orderly way. After finishing the test for the residents, Ren handed over the samples to Liu even without an eye contact.
Obedient child is the motivation of the couple
We were both born in 1983 and came to work in Guangwai Hospital in 2003. We have been married for 10 years and have a 7-year-old child. Ren said she was diagnosed with kidney disease in a pregnancy test in 2012, so she could not work too hard. In severe cases, her feet would even become swollen. She needed to take hormones and traditional Chinese medicine for daily treatment. Learning that his wife was ill, Liu took the initiative to assume all the household chores, and took care of his wife's diet and daily life.
He helped me wash my feet every day. Ren touched the mark on the face imprinted by the mask and said with smile.
When the reporter asked who would take care of the child, Ren Xiaocui answered proudly: Though our child was young, he was sensible and understood our work very well. He often told us, "I hope that my parents could help more people as much as possible". With so little time to spend with our child, we have installed a camera in the living room to keep track of what he was doing. Ren took out her mobile phone and opened the video, showing the heart-warming angel doing his homework at home.
The hospital is our backer
In this enduring war, as medical workers, we should make efforts to do our job well. As a Communist Party member, we should set an example, shoulder the responsibility and charge ahead." Liu said.
Liu Binghui is one of the 150 Party members of Guangwai Hospital. Since the outbreak of the epidemic, the backbone of the party members of the hospital took the lead and actively participated in the anti-epidemic work organized by the hospital. Going through the scorching sun and torrential rain, all party members bravely marched forward without fear of fatigue. Everyone's smile of victory became the most beautiful scenery in the battle against the epidemic. The hospital has always followed the requirements of "speeding up nucleic acid testing, all those in need and all those who are willing to have been tested", spared no effort to enhance our capabilities of nucleic acid collection and testing, and made the most of our hard work to win the battle against Covid-19 in Beijing. Guo Chunlei, the Party secretary of Guangwai Hospital, said that they were not alone. As their strong backers, the leaders of Guangwai Hospital were very concerned about the nucleic acid sampling work. They were always in front of the command and didn't relax.
Guo Chunlei introduced, as July 1, the Party's birthday approached, Guangwai Hospital would hold a series of activities to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the Founding of the Party, invited Liu Binghui and other Party members to participate in the sharing exchange meeting themed with "I am a Party member, I will head for the battlefield first. We won't retreat until the epidemic gradually vanishes", further enhancing the CPC members' sense of responsibility and mission by telling them about their experience in fighting the epidemic.
