We stick to the isolation point day and night

"Happiness always comes so suddenly. You have been released from quarantine. The cleaner will knock on the door and you'll come out." Wang Jitao, a nurse in the Jingkai District of Oriental Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, was notifying those who met the requirements for lifting the quarantine at the isolation point. "All right, Dr. Wang. I've packed my things, waiting for happiness to come!" On July 4, 17 quarantined people in the quarantine site tested negative for nucleic acid and were gradually released from quarantine.

At 21:00 on July 3, we received a list of 17 people who had been released from quarantine. When receiving this message, everyone was happy for the patient who could be relieved and finally went home at ease. In order to reduce the number of quarantined patients waiting in the hotel for more than one day, Dr. Liu Jialin, the leader of the medical team, promptly contacted the disease control teacher to check the information, allocated nucleic acid sampling tubes, sample boxes and other materials, and arranged the work and responsibilities of each member of the team in great detail. At 22:30, when the supplies were in place, Dr. Luigi edited the sample number: isolation point number + date + sequence. All the Numbers must not be repeated or empty, which seemed simple but required great care. A small error would render all samples to invalidation. Together with Wang Yantao, Jia Zongyi, Tian Wanqin and Chen Xiangping of the isolation group, I wrote the test tube information. Three checks and seven pairs ran through the whole work. When Teacher Liu asked who would work tomorrow, three nurses, Jia Zongyi, Tian Wanqin and I raised our hands high, just like a few pupils waiting for the teacher to call the roll. Serious Teacher Liu was also amused by us. "You three sisters protect yourself well. Cheer up!"

At 6 o 'clock the next day, the three of us put on thick protective clothing, checked the information of sampled personnel again, and entered the isolation zone with supplies. Lu Xun once said: "A true warrior dares to face the bleak life and the dripping blood." In order to prevent and control the epidemic, we must face up to the difficulties and fears of the work, completing the collection work with quality and quantity guaranteed. We would go ahead amid headwinds.

It took long time to wait for the test results. When all the results came back negative, the little "-" signs were adorable. We started notifying the quarantined people of the good news that they could go home. At this point, my heart had a small ripple, "When we get everyone safely home, our 14-day quarantine will begin..."

At 14 pm, the hottest time of the day, Wang was wearing protective clothing to explain what to do when he returned home in the 36℃ heat. Sweat had already soaked his clothes. Lu Lijie gently waved the disinfectant spray, didn't miss any corner and did well in disinfection. The gratitude expressed by the personnel released from quarantine made my heart sour and my eyes blurring. "Goodbye, go straight out and don't look back," said Liu Jialin, holding the trumpet. I hoped we could meet again after the epidemic, as friends.

When we were still in the joy of seeing off the quarantined personnel, the urgent task came. The collection of nucleic acid samples from all personnel at the isolation point, including all staff, must be completed today. Liu Jialin, the group leader, began to arrange: there were altogether 9 medical staff, one was responsible for disinfection, and the other two were in a group of isolation area and staff sampling at the same time...It was early the next morning when Wang took all the specimens to the CDC in two large specimen boxes.

We worked together for 17 days and nights, repeating disinfection, supervision, monitoring statements, sampling and other work every day, fighting overnight like a "daily routine". In fact, we were very homesick. Teacher Chen Xiangping's child just received the notification of entering junior high school. Nurse Tian Wanqin returned to work on the second day of her sick leave in May. Nurse Jia Zongyi quietly cancelled the wedding photo appointment...

There are no heroes who fall from the sky, only mortals who stand up. As medical workers, we have unshrinkable responsibilities in the face of the epidemic. We have the perseverance not to give up easily and the faith not to be defeated by the epidemic. We firmly believe that we will eventually win the battle against the epidemic!
