Liu Chao, the first aid-Tibet official of Beijing Shunyi Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, returns home triumphantly

On August 7, 2020, Liu Chao, the first cadre of Beijing Shunyi Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, came back with honor after successfully completing the one-year work of assisting Tibet. The hospital leader and the joint construction director of the Emergency Department, Guo Yuhong and relevant department heads went to the Capital Airport to welcome them.

According to the arrangement of superiors, in July 2019, Liu Chao, the Emergency Department of the hospital, volunteered to go to Nimu County People's Hospital of Tibet as "the ninth batch of cadres from Beijing to assist Tibet" to participate in the year-long work of assisting Tibet.

Tibet has a plateau climate with thin air and little oxygen. In Liu Chao's words, "After we entered Tibet, we overcame the high altitude, adapted to the diet and living conditions, overcame the language and communication barriers, and immediately started our aid work in an orderly manner."

Over the past year, Liu chao visited more than 120 times in the outpatient and emergency department, more than 700 diagnosis and treatment of patients, 155 ward rounds, more than 650 patients treated under guidance; participated in teaching ward rounds for 6 times, discussed difficult and critical cases for 6 times, consulted 75 times in various departments, guided 43 times for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, cerebral hemorrhage, acute myocardial infarction, acute bronchial asthma, acute left heart failure, acute gastrointestinal hemorrhage and other critical diseases, performed 10 times of thoracentesis drainage, 2 times lower gastric tube drainage and 165 person-time TCM suitable technology operation. There were 20 special lectures in the hospital and the department, and small lectures in the department once a week, with a total of over 400 medical staff trained. More than 30 visits were made to poor households, and more than 30 people were provided with health services with 4 times medical care. The first critical patient was successfully treated in Nimu County People's Hospital in recent years. In the process of diagnosis and treatment, the diagnosis and treatment level of local hospital medical staff has been improved and the primary medical team has been trained.

During the period of aid to Tibet, although far away from home, Liu chao always put his work and thought of doing more for his Tibetan compatriots. He never asked for leave to visit his relatives in Beijing. Liu Chao said, "After a year of aid to Tibet, I am deeply aware that there is still a long way to go. Before I left, I became more and more reluctant to part. Looking back on this year, I found all kinds of hardships and pains, but more harvest and joy. In terms of medical treatment, teaching, management and other aspects, my personal ability has been greatly improved. At the same time, I have brought medical technology to the local area and cultivated a team that cannot be taken away. After giving rose to others, fragrance remains with the hands. It is the biggest harvest of the year."

Assistance to Tibet is a long-term and arduous political task, which is conducive to promoting regional cultural development and strengthening ethnic cultural exchanges. With their practical actions, our cadres have withstood the test of the organization, delivered satisfactory answers to the Tibetan people, demonstrated the great love of doctors with their kindness, affinity and selfless dedication, and carried forward the spirit of traditional Chinese medicine and inherited the culture of Traditional Chinese medicine.
