"Mr Bai!"
"Mr Zhao!"
During a recent emergency nucleic acid sampling mission, Bai Yibing, deputy director of the Department of Spleen and Stomach Diseases of Xuanwu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, met Zhao Changsong, an "old comrade-in-arms", who had participated with him in Beijing's aid in the construction of Yushu, Qinghai. With many years apart, the two Beijing youth aid cadres were reunited on the front line of epidemic prevention and control. Although thrilled with joy, at this particular time, they had no time to catch up, but gave each other a solid embrace and then headed off to their rendezvous and got to work.
In this emergency mission, Xiao Bai, a medical staff member, was responsible for throat swab sampling, while Big Brother Zhao, as the director of the sub-district office, was responsible for guarding the site and ensuring services.
In the middle of the night, when Xiaobai finished his day's sampling task and collapsed on the bed, he received a photo and a sentence from his comrade-in-arms Zhao: " when I was visiting the sampling site in the afternoon, I saw you so fully armed to collect nucleic acid that I didn’t bother you but took this photo and I didn’t remember to send it to you until the work arrangement meeting was over. Brother, it’s cold, take care!”, “Well, it’s really cold, Brother Zhao, take care of you, too!". The dialogue between the comrades in arms was simple but full of concern, which reminded Xiaobai of their hard work together in Yushu.
Physicians are benevolent and love without bounds. Youth aid cadres like Bai Yibing and Big Brother Zhao once worked hard in Yushu, Qinghai, benefiting the local people; now their positions are different, but the dedication and sentiments of the youth aid cadres remain unchanged. Whenever needed, they still come forward boldly and take their responsibility and dedication to stay on the front line of epidemic prevention and control.
