A few days ago, the National Health and Health Commission issued the Healthy Children Action Improvement Plan (2021-2025) (hereinafter referred to as the Plan), proposing to set up pediatric departments in public hospitals at or above the county level across the country to promote children's traditional Chinese medicine health care into the community and into the family. The TCM health management service rate for children aged 0-36 months has reached over 85%.
The Plan makes it clear that children's traditional Chinese medicine health care promotion actions will be carried out and traditional Chinese medicine services for children should be strenghthened. Pediatric departments are generally established in public TCM hospitals at or above the county level across the country. Basic medical care and preventive health care for children should be carried out by using Chinese medicine techniques in primary medical and health institutions. Maternal and child health care institutions at all levels should establish a pediatric Chinese and Western medicine collaborative diagnosis and treatment system, and incorporate Chinese medicine into the multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment consultation system. It's necessary to strengthen the training of paediatric Chinese medicine talents, and train the backbones of paediatric Chinese medicine business by means of mentoring and apprenticeship. It's essential to promote the application of suitable techniques of traditional Chinese medicine such as pediatric massages, strengthen the important role of traditional Chinese medicine in children's medical care and build a group of specialty specialties of traditional Chinese medicine and pediatrics.
The Plan proposes to promote children's traditional Chinese medicine health care into the community and into the family. Encourage traditional Chinese medicine medical institutions or qualified maternal and child health care institutions to take the lead in establishing a Chinese medicine alliance for women and children (pediatrics), strengthen cooperation through project cooperation, joint wards, and subject assistance, and actively promote the sinking of high-quality Chinese medicine resources. The TCM health management service rate for children aged 0-36 months has reached over 85%. In addition, a pilot program of appropriate Chinese medicine techniques for the prevention and control of myopia in children and adolescents will be launched.
